Promotions
A percentage or fixed discount applied when a product is picked on a sale invoice.
What a promotion does
A promotion is a rule that lowers the suggested price of a product when it is picked on a sale invoice: a percentage, or a fixed amount off each unit in a named currency.
It can cover every product and customer or only some, always or between two dates. The seller can still change the price, and earlier invoices do not change.
Making a promotion
Managers and the owner make promotions. For a fixed amount you also choose the currency; such a promotion only applies to an invoice in that currency.
If you choose specific customers, sales without a customer do not get the promotion. When several promotions fit one product only the largest applies, unless you turned on “Add to other promotions”.
- On the Promotions page, press “New promotion”.
- Enter the name, type and value, and limit it to products, customers or dates if needed.
- Save; from then on a covered product shows a “Promo” tag on the sale invoice.
Changing or ending a promotion
A promotion is not edited or deleted; you retire it and make a new one if needed. That way the price on an old invoice can always be explained.
Price lists
A price list is a set of special prices in one currency, for example “Wholesale”. A customer on the list is offered those prices when a product is picked on a sale invoice, and the list name shows beside the product.
A product that is not on the list sells at its own price, the list only applies to an invoice in the same currency, and promotions are taken off the list price. A customer is on one list only.
