Inventory
Stock on hand, multiple units, stock counts, and dead stock.
Where the stock figure comes from
Stock on hand comes from what actually moved — sales, purchases, returns, adjustments. It cannot be typed over, because then it would no longer match its own history.
If a figure is wrong, the way to fix it is a stock count, not an edit. The count records the difference as an adjustment, so what happened stays visible.
Multiple units
If you buy or sell something in more than one unit — pieces and cartons, grams and kilos — you can define those units for that product and say how many base units each one is.
One unit is the base, and everything is stored in it. You can also say which unit purchases default to and which sales default to.
This is optional. A product with no units defined stays single-unit.
- Open the product and find the units section.
- Add the units and mark one as the base.
- For each other unit, enter how many base units it is.
Reordering and dead stock
Hisabche suggests what to reorder based on your real sales.
The dead-stock list shows what has not moved for a while and how much money is tied up in it.
