Till and shifts
Quick sales, opening and closing the till, and cash differences.
The shift
At the start of a shift you enter the opening cash, and at the end the cash you counted. If there is a difference, you are asked why.
The reason is required. A till that comes up short with no explanation is a shortfall nobody can account for later.
A closed shift is fixed and does not change afterwards.
The till list
The till page lists every open and suspended till in one table: when it opened, how many hours it has been open, the number of sales and the cash that should be in it.
Expected cash is computed by the server from sales, cash in and out, and cash invoice payments, and cannot be edited — a figure you can type over is not a control.
Each person has one open till per branch at a time. Two open tills for one person are two counts that can never be reconciled.
- Press «Add till» next to the table title.
- Enter the opening cash and open the till.
- Click a row to see that till's transactions in the table below.
Adding cash and profit %
«Add cash to till» records money put into the till with a reason. The reason is required so every amount can be explained.
Cash payments of invoices appear in the till's transactions automatically. Search and filters for in, out and invoices sit above the table.
Each cash receipt for an invoice shows the profit % of that sale, from the accounting core and the real cost of goods. When no cost is recorded, no figure is guessed.
Suspend and close
«Suspend» at the end of each row takes a till out of use: it accepts no sales or cash movements but keeps its money and history, and «Resume» opens it again.
«Close till» asks for the counted cash and shows the difference from expected cash before you confirm. A difference must be explained.
Closing records the handover figures as of that moment and posts the journal entry; later voids do not change a handover someone signed.
